(1915–1983), black labor economist; a leader of Midwest March on Washington Movement; examiner in charge, St. Louis suboffice, FEPC (1943–45); economist, editor, researcher, field agent, Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, AFL; exec. dir., American Negro Leadership Conference on Africa; testified on revision of Taft-Hartley Act (Mar.1949).
